Counselor’s Corner: Jon Warren

Jon WarrenToday was a day that contained a rather different evening than that of a normal day at VAMPY.

This evening, all campers trekked down the Hill to the beautiful Bowling Green Ballpark to see the Bowling Green Hot Rods take on the Dayton Dragons. The campers was seated in the grass down the 1st base line giving them a rather unique view of the game proceedings. The game featured home runs from both teams including a 3-run HR in the first inning to give the Hot Rods the lead. The video board at the Bowling Green Ballpark also featured VAMPY campers on many occasions which the campers and counselors both enjoyed seeing. Counselors and students also enjoyed clocking their fastballs against each other at the pitching game located directly behind our section.

While sports aren’t for all campers, some brought along cards and other games to enjoy during the duration of the game. This allowed for all campers to be engaged and enjoy their experience.

Unfortunately, the weather did cut our visit to Bowling Green Ballpark as a storm approached and the decision was made to head back to campus in order to ensure the safety of our campers and staff. Thanks to the staff at the Bowling Green Hot Rods for allowing VAMPY 2013 to enjoy the game. Go Hot Rods!
