Counselor’s Corner – Mikah Burdette

We had a great day Sunday, filled with the perfect balance of unstructured fun and beloved camp traditions! After lunch, the energy in the building was wonderful as we opened up floating optionals, giving campers the freedom to choose between floating optionals like Super Smash Bros in the den or face painting down on the lawn. It was good to see the campers exercise their independence, deciding not only which activity to join but also how long to stay. Some drifted in and out, catching a few minutes of Adventure Time before running to get paint on their cheek, while others stayed parked on the couch for the full episode block. These floating optionals are always a highlight because they let the kids decompress on their own terms, building community at their own pace.
