After dinner, campers participate in a variety of activities. In addition to optionals, guest
speakers, and time at the Preston Center for Recreation and Sports, campers get community
time. During this time, campers can interact with other campers. Campers outside of their
classes and halls that they may not otherwise get to interact with. Yesterday, students got the
opportunity to play outside at The Colonnades, WKU’s original football field. The stairs provide
the perfect setting to unwind and laugh with friends, while the field is a great location to run
around and play games. After a week of hot walks to class, our campers were surprised with a
visit from Kona Ice! Campers were able to mix and match their own sno cone syrup
combinations to their liking.
As Camp Discover 1 is coming to a close, we have many more surprises in store for community
time. Tonight, after the banquet, campers will go back out to the Colonnades for an even bigger
surprise! There will be field day activities including a blowup slip n’ slide for the campers to race
on. It has been a pleasure to work with such a bright young group of students! We hope that
these memories of learning and laughing with friends will be remembered for years to come!
