Conselor’s Corner: Cassie Stuart

CassieSplashin’ Around Can you believe Camp Discover is halfway over? Time really does fly, especially when having as much fun as these campers, between classes, nightly activities like optionals, and just hanging with their friends during hall time, there is no shortage. Today might be the best day of camp for most students. After a great dinner at Fresh Foods where most meals end with sweet and refreshing ice cream, campers got their phones for the first time since Sunday so they could call home, but Camp Discover took a trip to the WKU Preston Center. At the Preston Center campers have the options of walking/running the indoor track, playing basketball and volleyball on the courts, swimming in the pool (a fan favorite), chilling in the lobby (where campers can sit and talk when needing a break from play or find enjoyment in playing card games), or hanging outside on South Lawn, tossing a football or kicking around the soccer ball. Tomorrow is the last full day of camp discover and that comes with mixed feelings and both campers and counselors alike are missing and ready to go home. They also are sad to leave, with all the fun comes great lasting memories. As the Camp Discover staff gets ready to say goodbye to the campers, they are also preparing to say goodbye to the camp itself. Don’t worry campers will still be able to participate in both SCATS and VAMPY. Both camps are much like discover with minor differences, SCATS is a two week program, and VAMPY is three weeks (during VAMPY campers will also only take one class where they will get more in depth with the topics they are interested in).
