Presidential Politics Blog: Mount Rushmore, Obama, and More

By Dennis Jenkins

Today students presented the Mount Rushmore projects that they had worked on during study hall. We also examined and discussed a court case involving gun control. Next, the students read about Barack Obama’s first term in office and watched commercials, debate clips and political satire from the 2008 election. Students then created campaign posters and participated in a debate between John McCain and Barack Obama. After lunch, the class went to the computer lab to finish their research for our Presidential Face-Off Tournament. During the last hour students participated in the quarterfinals of competition. Today’s winners were JFK, Teddy Roosevelt, LBJ, and Truman!
