On Thursday we went to the library for the last time to research information for the Face-Off tournament and the 2012 and 2016 presidential elections. When we returned from the library, we read about Barack Obama’s legacy and analyzed a timeline over major events that occurred during his presidency. Students then continued presenting their Mount Rushmore projects to the class. They next shared their first memories of politics as children. We also watched commercials and highlights from the Mitt Romney-Obama debates in 2012 and political satire from Saturday Night Live.

When we returned from lunch, students finished presenting their Mount Rushmore projects and watched a role-play debate between Romney (Darby) and Obama (Vantasia). We then watched our two semi-finals debates in our Presidential Face-Off Tournament which were won by President McKinley (Sam) and President Washington (Abby). The two students face off Friday in the championship for the title of The Best American President as voted by our class in 2017! We ended class with our weekly Beyond Balderdash game where students were put on teams based on their bracket from the Presidential Face-Off Tournament. There was no study hall as students had their annual Talent Show. It is hard to believe that Friday is our last day in class at VAMPY!
