Teacher’s Talk: Anatomy and Physiology (Skin Disorder Projects)

Students began class on Friday learning about the structures and functions of skin and body membranes. We diagrammed subcutaneous tissue, nail structure, structural features of the epidermis, and hair follicle structures in our lab notebooks. In the afternoon we visted the computer lab and began conducting research about various skin disorders. Each student continued researching their specific topic on Monday and will create an APA formatted PowerPoint presentation about their disorder. APA formatting is new to the majority of the class, so students are receiving a lot of direct instruction about how to format in-text citations as well as a reference page using APA style formatting. The majority of students had also not used Google Docs before, so as an added bonus we are learning how to share documents and collaborate using this free tool. Here are some pictures of us researching the disorders.
