Teacher’s Talk: Greek Mythology (Days 6-8)

We started this week taking a closer look at the story of Herakles, more commonly known as Hercules. We quickly found out Disney didn’t quite have the story right! On Monday, we read the actual 12 Labors of Herakles and today, students will have their choice of activities regarding the stories we read, which includes developing a video game cover of the labors, creating 12 new labors of present day, writing a news report of Herakles completing a labor, or composing a brochure/comic strip of the labors Herakles performed. I can’t wait to see what the students will come up with! To wrap up the Hercules/Herakles section, we will watch Disney’s version of Hercules, and compare the two stories.

  1. Sounds like a neat assignment, compare and contrast the original vs. Disney’s versions of Hercules! Can’t wait to hear about what the kids came up with!
