Counselor’s Corner – Jack Clark

Yesterday was our first day of SCATS 2026! Campers and parents had the chance to move in, meet their suite mates and counselors and even make some brand new friends. After move-in, campers sat down with their counselors to go over the rules and expectations of camp, ensuring that everyone will have a safe and fun time for the next two weeks. Campers then went to dinner for the first time, enjoying some delicious food from Fresh Foods, the campus cafeteria. They enjoyed pizza, pasta, sandwiches and of course, the fan favorite soft-serve ice cream machine. After filling up, campers made their way to the campus Colonnades to do some fun icebreakers, learning many new names and learning what they have in common with other campers. Some groups played name games, others answered random questions written on a beach ball, and one group had a debate style game where they argued over fun topics such as: Is water wet? and Is a hotdog a sandwich? From there, campers returned to their halls to wind down before bed. In my hall, this included playing some relaxing chess and a couple rounds of less-relaxing UNO. After a little while, the first day was already over and campers headed to bed, making sure that they would be well rested for an exciting and packed first full day of camp. There is already an air of fun, energy, and friendship rolling through camp and we can not wait to see how many friends get made and how much is learned throughout the rest of camp
