Counselor’s Corner: Noah Mills

Noah Mills
“What was your highlight from today?”
“What’s something on your bucket list?”
“How many eggs do you think you could break in three minutes?
“Which counselor would look the best bald?”
These are just a few of the reflective–or silly–questions I have overheard counselors ask campers in the afternoons. As classes end each day, counselors sit on the back lawn of our residence hall–silly questions on hand–to greet returning campers. As campers trickle in, they reconnect with their friends from other classes. The energy builds until the back lawn is filled with smiles, laughter, silly answers, and stories from the day. The energy is magical.
“What did you learn today? Did you meet someone new today?”
These are other questions I hear counselors ask on the lawn. VAMPY is all about learning and connection. Reflection can help retain new information and appreciate friendly bonds. So as you chat with your camper during phone time this afternoon, ask about their learning and their connection with new friends this week. You’re bound to feel some of the magic we’re experiencing here at camp.
Happy Juneteenth! I hope you can take some time to celebrate freedom for all people today.
Be well,
Noah Wills
