Preston Center offers campers a brain break

An important part of Camp Discover is the opportunity for campers to make new friends and have fun. On Wednesday evening, all of our campers spent some time at WKU’s athletic facility, the Preston Center, where a variety of activities were available and campers were free to move from one to the next as they wished. The pool, generally the most anticipated part of the Preston Center, was open, and some campers swam laps while others played water basketball or took the time to float and talk. Counselors Femi O. and Kenyan W. played basketball with the campers on the courts, with Femi’s team coming out on top. A number of campers elected to play volleyball, with multiple games happening at the same time at one point. The track was open for walking and running and was a surprisingly popular option.

A personal highlight of the evening actually occurred on the walk back to Florence Schneider Hall at the end of the night. My campers were talking about how much fun they had and how much they’ve been enjoying camp! Camper Kayne H. said his favorite part about the Preston Center was the pool, “I really liked getting to swim with my friends!” While we won’t return to the Preston Center this week, I’m looking forward to another day of optionals!
