Counselor’s Corner: Justin Jatczak

Justin JToday has been a jam packed and exciting day at SCATS 2013.  Today we had our annual SCATS talent show and a great time was had by all.  In all we had 20 acts who showcased their talents in front of the other 100+ students out in the audience.  It is amazing how many different talents the scampers (SCATS-campers) performed.  There were pianists, dancers, dramatic novelists, singers, comedians, and even a wizard impersonator.  The emcees for the evening were Maddy, Aidan, Julie, and Pedro.  Throughout the evening the emcees introduced acts and performed funny skits to supplement the performances.  I remember when I was an emcee at SCATS back in 2007 and it brought back a lot of memories to assist with the talent show this year.  The campers have been practicing their talents all camp with music room optionals in the evenings and the talent show practice optional last night.  All of the practice really paid off and it was great to see the whole event come together.

On a personal note it was really exciting to see one of my guys from the hall, Samir, perform “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson on the piano.  The whole crowd was grooving to the beat and singing along with Samir as he did work on the keys.  I am very proud of him!  Tomorrow is the banquet, dance, and slideshow.  The counselors and staff have been hard at work trying to get everything ready for the spectacular evening tomorrow night.
