Teacher’s Talk: Nuclear Chemistry – Wrapping Up

In the course, I have been very pleased with the level of enthusiasm and work ethic each student has displayed since day 1.  All of the students came in with lots of ideas and creativity, and this will culminate with our Think-Tac-Toe lesson we are finishing on Thursday and Friday.

I hope each of the students has learned something they can take back and relate to the real world regarding nuclear chemistry.  It sounds like a lot of research in a lab, but as the students have learned, there are many applications, such as nuclear power, nuclear medicine, and the use of radioactive particles to date and give scientists an idea of Earth’s age.

The work they have completed is very thoughtful and shows their gifted traits.  I hope they continue to learn as much about science, and possibly consider a career if you find yourself fascinated with the ideas in this course.  It is only the beginning!

I want to thank the students for all their hard work and dedication.  Have a safe and enjoyable summer!
