We started VAMPY 2026 off strong on Sunday! Campers got dropped off, met their roommates and hallmates, and put their rooms together before saying goodbye to their loved ones and settling in for the next few weeks! They had a brief meeting with their counselor groups before heading to Fresh for the first dinner. Choosing between home-cooked style platters, pizza, salad, deli, vegetarian and vegan choices, and of course the famous soft serve ice cream machine, campers ate a nice meal and got plenty of time to socialize. After dinner we headed to the Grise Hall auditorium to do a brief orientation with Dr. Julia Roberts and to introduce each of the counselors. We recognized campers who have had family members attend VAMPY, as well as returning and new campers. Then we trekked up to the Colonnades to do our icebreaker activities. Counselors paired up to create icebreaker stations, and campers rotated around to get to know new people and play fun games. We ended the night with our first Community Time, where campers, under the supervision of stationed counselors, were able to explore the building and get to know anyone they hadn’t yet gotten a chance to meet. We ended our first night tired but excited for another wonderful VAMPY summer!
