Counselor’s Corner – Jack Clark

Another successful summer at SCATS!

Today is our last day of SCATS 2025! We have had so much fun over the past two weeks, all of the students have participated in so many fun events and learned so much in their classes. Today is a little bit shorter than our typical days, but we always like to make the final night of SCATS an important one! Last night we all dressed up for our SCATS Banquet, eating delicious food, enjoying the performance of the Bucket Drumming Class and watching a slideshow that recapped all of the amazing experiences that we have had this year. After this, we made our way to the dance floor and had a great time dancing to some classics before going to bed at Florence Schneider Hall for the last time. This morning, we sent the students off for their last round of classes before meeting them again for our camp picture. Everyone dressed in their cool new SCATS 2025 T-shirts and lined up to capture a nice (and a silly) picture so that they all can remember the people that they enjoyed camp with. During our meals today, many students wandered around the dining hall, collecting signatures from other campers and counselors alike. Many of them also have their peers sign their shirts, so that they can always look back on their time at SCATS.

I know I have learned so much from these students, and they are the ones that make the experience worth it for us as counselors and for themselves as young people. As camp comes to a close, I am sad to see the students leave, but I am so excited to see how they will take what they learned at camp into the world outside. For all the parents, we are excited to see you later today and talk about the students and how awesome they have been. Thank you all for an amazing year at SCATS, have a great rest of your summer SCATS students and parents!
