It was opposite day in Acting class on Wednesday! Campers have spent most of the last week and a half learning about monologues and acting techniques. They selected monologues from movies to work to present. Today, rather than presenting their own monologues for performance feedback, the students traded and performed a class mate’s monologue. Acting teacher, Julie Boggess, gave them time to rehearse the new pieces. She then explained that in this exercise, they weren’t offering suggestions for the performers’ improvement. They watched their classmates perform and identified aspects of the performance they liked or thought were well done. They could then incorporate what they observed into their own performance. The campers seemed excited to return to their own monologues with fresh ideas and insight. Ms. Boggess asked them to come back the next day ready to talk about what they had learned at camp. Based on the unique performances, it looks like they learned a lot more than one thing.
