A SCATS favorite for campers and counselors is the annual SCATS Olympics! This year, we had six teams made up of campers that included Finland, Albania, the USA, the North Pole, Japan, and Nepal. After a riveting opening ceremony where all countries were introduced, we started the Olympics off with the relay race. From doing the wheel barrow, to answering math problems, and pieing a counselor in the face, there was not a dull moment as the campers worked together to race to victory. Throughout the day, our other main events took place. Unlike the actual Olympics, a few of our main events were not active, but that didn’t take away from the campers fun. Ezra Nalley represented Finland in storytelling, where she wrote a story about what would happen in a counselor zombie outbreak. Lydia Minor participated in trivia, answering questions about biology, history, and math. Her answers helped bring her team, Albania, into second place. Campers loved cheering on their teammates during musical chairs, just dance, and of course, some very intense games of dodgeball. Our two side events this year were art and minute to win it. At the art event, our campers took time drawing the counselors and submitting their drawings to gain extra points for their teams. Minute to win it included different exercise competitions, where camper Rose Whitaker held a wall sit for 23 minutes! The Olympics came to a close with a fake of tug of war, were our brand new rope broke twice. That’s just how strong and devoted these campers are! The winning team of tug of war, Finland, then played against all the counselors. Despite their best efforts, the counselors very quickly took the win. The final results ended with USA in 1st place, Albania in 2nd place, and Finland in 3rd place. The SCATS 2025 Olympics was indeed a success, and an event all campers and counselors enjoyed.
