Ages through Art

Campers discover and paint different art styles

Masterpieces were plentiful as you walk into Melody Haase’s Ages through Art class. In just a few days, campers have learned about Renaissance and Impressionism eras and have created paintings similar to the chosen period and style. “The students get to choose what type of paint they would like to use,” said Haase.

Working on his impressionist painting, Steele said, “Mine is a yellow brick road from an aerial perspective.” Nathan used an image from a Metroid video game as his inspiration, including a waterfall in the forest with a pond in the forefront.

Dolly was adding strokes of green to her beautiful lavender field while Delancy was putting the leaves on her willow tree.

Students who didn’t want to paint a picture had the option to write about different artists. One of the articles was a thoughtful essay about Degas versus Monet.

Next week, the artists will exhibit their pieces in a classroom art show. Other movements on the schedule are Cubism and Modern Art—we can’t wait to see what other amazing works of art are yet to be created!
