Counselor’s Corner – Caroline Moots

It’s Day 2 of SCATS, and campers have certainly been busy learning and making new friends! They spend their mornings diving into fascinating subjects like Pop Culture, Ancient Greece, Chemistry, Crime Scene Investigation, Art and so much more. But the learning and fun doesn’t stop there. Each afternoon, counselors lead an exciting lineup of after-class activities called “Optionals.”

Campers are given a wide selection of Optionals and choose one to participate in each day. These activities are designed to give campers a chance to explore new interests, make new friends, and enjoy themselves after a long day of classes. As counselors, we have been working hard to make activities that pique the interest of every kid.

Whether a camper is looking for the thrill of Capture the Flag, the creativity of painting, or the movement of ballet, everyone can find an activity they will love! Some other popular and upcoming options include chalk art, ultimate frisbee, friendship bracelet making, slime, and four-square.

It’s been great to know that campers are enjoying optionals and all they have to offer. Seeing kids balance their academic interests with laughter, creativity, and play is inspiring!
