We have just completed the first week of VAMPY, and as a counselor for the third consecutive year, I continue to be amazed by the growth and transformation I see in our students. Witnessing these bright minds flourish is one of the most rewarding aspects of this program, and each year brings its own unique set of memories and milestones.
This week, campers have started taking their classes, and the atmosphere is buzzing with intellectual curiosity and excitement. I always find the new classes to be interesting, and this year is no exception. Many students have chosen to dive into the fascinating world of psychology, exploring the depths of the human mind and behavior. It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm for a subject that encourages both critical thinking and empathy.
Reflecting on the classes from year to year, I often ask campers about their preferences and interests. Their responses are always intriguing, often revealing a mix of seemingly polar opposites. One camper might be passionate about advanced mathematics, while also having a deep love for creative writing. Another might be captivated by the intricacies of computer science, yet find equal joy in studying presidential politics. It’s so neat how students can explore different interests, demonstrating that intellectual curiosity knows no bounds.
