Let’s talk politics!

Let’s talk politics!

“My fellow Americans, ask not what VAMPY can do for you – ask what you can do for VAMPY!”

This week in Presidential Politics, we moved on from Presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson to the presidencies of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and George H.W. Bush. Alongside instruction from Mr. Dennis Jenkins, our class has used a book with descriptions of the terms of all the U.S. presidents (The American President by Kathryn Moore), CSPAN presidential rankings, official campaign commercials and posters, video and online resources, and more to help students fully understand the context of each election and the events that occurred during the administrations of modern presidents.

During the rest of our time together, we will learn about the rest of the modern presidents: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden. By reading, researching, role-playing, having roundtable discussions, and debating, the President Politics class is all about student engagement. In addition to our other projects, students are looking forward to beginning our March Madness-style Presidential Face-Off tournament.
