Project Title: Analyzing Grades 4-6 Student Above-Level Assessment Scores
Investigators: Dr. Tyler Clark (Thomas.clark@wku.edu) and Dr. Julia Link Roberts (Julia.roberts@wku.edu)
- Nature and Purpose of the Project: We are doing a project to learn more about students who take the Iowa Assessment in grades 4-6 through the Talent Identification Program of Kentucky (TIP-KY).
- Explanation of Procedures: Your parent will register you for TIP-KY either on a test date at your school or on WKU’s campus. You will take a test for older students.
- Discomfort and Risks: There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts to you as a result of participating in this project.
- Benefits: The findings from this research will help inform future services for students with high potential.
- Confidentiality: Your educator and/or parent(s)/guardian(s) will receive individual interpretation reports (including name, grade, and composite and subject scores with service recommendations). The educator will also receive aggregate reports of students from their school or district taking the assessment. These reports are not a part of the research project. All other data collected will remain anonymous. Your name will not be included in any publication or presentation.
- Refusal/Withdrawal: Refusal to participate in this study will have no effect on any future services you may be entitled to from TIP-KY, The Center for Gifted Studies, Western Kentucky University, or your school. Anyone who agrees to participate in this study is free to withdraw from the study at any time with no penalty.
I understand that my parents have given permission for me to participate in a study conducted by TIP-KY that will use my demographic information (e.g., gender, grade, etc.), under the direction of Dr. Tyler Clark and Dr. Julia Link Roberts.
My participation in this project is voluntary, and I have been told that I may stop my participation in this study at any time. If I choose not to participate, it will not affect my participation in TIP-KY in any way.
