Counselor’s Corner – Wade Luttrell

VAMPY's Got Talent!

Tonight marks the VAMPY talent show and it is safe to say that every counselor, camper, and staff member is excited to see what great acts we will see. As the campers practiced and planned out their performances last night at talent show practice it seems that our show this year will provide a wide variety ranging from singing, comedy, musical instruments, and even “old man rambling”. This camp tradition allows the campers to share what they do best and for some it’s a chance to step outside their comfort zone and simply have fun. Head counselor Evie Ellis shared her enthusiasm as she stated that this year there are over 30 different acts signed up to perform, not even counting the special surprise brought to you by all of the counselors.
I took some time to ask a few campers, those performing and those supporting from the audience what made them the most excited for the talent show. Quinn O’Connor shared, “I’m so pumped to get up and sing Virtual Insanity in front of all my friends!” Sophie Nobles also expressed her excitement to see the variety of acts that are headed to the stage and how she can barely wait for the show!
The talent show also provides the opportunity for some 4th year campers to host the show as a whole and provide a skit that lasts from the beginning to the end of the show. This allows these campers to have one last talent show moment before VAMPY ends.
Everyone is looking forward to what the campers have prepared and to ending camp with as much fun and excitement as possible!
