Today marks the end of the first week of classes and the start of a weekend packed full of exciting activities, including the SCATS Olympics! This week has been one of bonding and intense learning, and as a counselor, it’s a privilege to see how the students grow and friendships blossom. Tonight the students will have pizza at Red Zone for dinner, and then travel to the Preston Center, where they will have the opportunity to swim and play different sports like basketball, volleyball, soccer, and racquetball.

Tomorrow, the campers will participate in the Olympics, where they will represent different countries and battle it out in assorted events. There will be dodgeball, trivia, tug o’ war, along with other side events such as endurance games, movies and refreshments, extreme puzzle solving, face painting and flag making, and beanbag toss. It is sure to be a day of fun and excitement!

On my hall last night, my campers decided to show each other the dresses they would be wearing to the dinner and dance that we will hold next Thursday night. Our hall is full of music and laughter, and it’s been a privilege to spend time with these girls. We all got together and they posed fabulously for a picture with their beautiful dresses!

One of my campers, Cassidy Burnside, said the following about SCATS: “SCATS is the best summer camp experience ever. It gives everybody a chance to shine in their own way without feeling weird. The people here are amazing, and all of them just want me to have the best time. I really hope to come back next year.”
