Teacher’s Talk: Presidential Politics (July 4)

Happy 4th of July!  Today our class watched part of the John Adams movie that showed the vote to break away from Great Britain in 1776.  We also discussed traditions Americans celebrate on this day and what it means to each student to be an American.  We also took an assessment this morning to see what they learned about the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.  After lunch, we discussed the 2000 presidential election & watched some funny Saturday Night Live clips about the Bush-Gore debates.  We also continued watching the movie ‘Lincoln’ in preparation for Monday’s field trip.  We ended class by recreating the vote for the Declaration of Independence & taking a group picture of the students with their American flags.
