We’ve been waiting for our campers all year, and we’re so glad that they’re finally here! On Sunday afternoon, campers moved back into Florence Schneider Hall for another great session of SCATS. After a year of COVID restrictions and virtual summer camp, counselors and staff are eagerly anticipating our two weeks of educational classes and fun activities. Returning campers from 2019 are finally able to come back in person, and campers who experienced SCATS for the first time in 2020 as an online camp are able to come together on campus.

With rain pouring outside, parents moved their campers into the building and said goodbye, while campers said hello to SCATS! Luckily, the rain stopped just in time for campers to enjoy dinner, a campus tour, and some really exciting icebreakers outside. Another counselor and I led a riveting game of Pterodactyl, which I am sure that your campers would love to explain once they come home. It was so fun getting to meet this year’s campers and see their excitement. Friendships immediately blossomed; I was happy to see my five campers get along very well — two of my campers even mentioned that the best part of their day was meeting each other.

During the current state of the pandemic, the counselors at SCATS are dedicated to making sure that all campers have a safe and enjoyable experience this summer. With indoor mask-wearing and frequent temperature checks, we are ready to adapt. We have so much planned for this summer, and everyone is excited to be back in action — and in-person.
