With half of SCATS behind us, this week is gearing up for a whirlwind finish. Wednesday evening, campers will get to enjoy the annual camp talent show, which always proves to be one of the most popular events.

However, the illusion of this smoothly-run evening requires a lot of preparation by campers and counselors alike. Many campers come to camp with talent show acts already planned out, while others dedicate days of community and hall time to practicing.

As a counselor, I am always amazed at the range of acts put on by the campers! From stand-up comedy to short plays to ukulele mash-ups of popular songs, they never fail to impress. Tonight, campers will get a chance to practice their acts on stage before the actual performance tomorrow.

One of the most anticipated parts of the show is the revealing of emcees. Emcees play a large role in the success of the talent show as they are tasked with coming up with multiple skits that are dispersed among the acts. Despite the extra work, the chosen emcees have reveled in the challenge and are very excited to get on stage.

From what I have seen of the emcees and acts so far, I am confident this year’s show will be an undeniable success and I can’t wait for the campers to see all the talent!
