Friday marked the end of the first week of classes, and it has been great week! Many of my campers agree that VAMPY is the place where days feel long but weeks go by quickly. It’s hard to believe we’re already a week in! By this point, a lot of friendships have formed among the campers and many class projects are well underway.
Fridays at VAMPY are always great because once classes are done, we get to have pizza and go to the Preston Center! Various kinds of pizza were enjoyed in Garrett, where campers were able to eat and socialize. We then visited the Preston Center, where campers had the chance to partake in many different sports and activities. Some of these included basketball, volleyball, soccer, and ultimate Frisbee. One of the more popular locations in Preston is the pool, and that’s where I spent a good portion of my time. All the campers seemed to have a great time swimming, and I was really impressed with some of the brave plunges off the diving board. Sporting events were not the only things in Preston though, as a lot of campers were seen with cards, friendship bracelets, and even ukuleles hanging out in the lobby, so there really was something for everyone. It was a great start to a busy weekend!
