Counselor’s Corner: Fourth Festivities (July 4th)

natalieHappy Independence Day weekend! Yesterday we had an amazing kick off to the weekend here at VAMPY. All the kids got dressed up in their red, white, and blue, and were just very patriotic for the fourth. In the evening we walked downtown to see a baseball game at the Bowling Green Hot Rods ballpark. They got to eat dinner at the stadium for a nice change of pace from the cafeteria, and some kids even won prizes on the prize wheel. The weather was absolutely perfect. It was probably the only year we’ve ever had to advise them to bring a jacket! Even though the Hot Rods lost, we all had a great time. After the game, the stadium lights went out and the sky was lit up by a beautiful fireworks show. And I can’t help bit brag a bit at this point; one of the park workers commented that we’re the best group they’ve ever had. I’m so proud of all the kids for behaving so maturely. It made the whole night run smoothly. It was the perfect start to what will hopefully be an amazing weekend!
