During our study hall on Thursday night, under the moon light, every one in Chinese class talked to Zhenna and her 5-year-old daughter, xiao ke Ai in Beijing, China. It was 8:00 p.m. here at WKU, but it was 9:00 a.m. Friday in Beijing because it is 13 hours ahead of us.
All the students conversed with the limited Chinese sentences they have learned in the first week of Chinese class. After that, they each asked questions about China. Slaid found out Zhenna does not own any pets, but her father does raise crickets in the winter time. It is hard to have dogs or cats because they live on the 9th floor of an apartment building.
It was very exciting when my students could understand some of the Chinese Zhenna and her daughter were speaking and vice versa. Exploring and discovering!
