What a fun start to SCATS 2015. After a smooth move-in process, the campers enjoyed a great dinner at The Fresh Food Company, which offers a variety of each food group to ensure campers can maintain balanced diets while away at camp. Campers also become better acquainted with the counseling team and the procedures that help guarantee everyone has a remarkable camp experience. To become familiar with campus, campers took guided tours of WKU. However, the real fun was about to begin.

A camp tradition is to “break the ice” with a multitude of fun activities! Counselors paired up to design fun and engaging games. From a variation of Rock, Paper, Scissors called Wizards, Giants, and Elves, to the Human Knot, campers were able to step out of their comfort zones and learn more about their fellow campers and the skills of team-building and sportsmanship. Altogether, participants were able to rotate between eight stations, giving each a chance to exhibit their talents.

Now in my third year of being a counselor for SCATS, I’m very excited to see how this group progresses and grows over the next two weeks! It is always remarkable to see the difference in a student as they arrive and how they are when they depart at the end of camp. Our staff is dedicated to a fun, safe, and nurturing environment for all. Thank you for trusting our team with your child for the duration of camp. I look forward to an exciting two weeks!
