As we approach the midpoint of VAMPY, classes continue to operate in full swing and campers have finally adjusted to the daily routine. This week is packed with activities both inside and outside of class.

These include field trips for several different classes, such as the Pop Culture and Nazi Germany classes visiting museums in Washington D.C., as well as a camp-wide talk from General Dan Cherry, who shared with us his life-changing experience brought about as a result of his duty as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam War. Campers and counselors alike found his story fascinating, and were eager to ask General Cherry questions following his speech.

Campers have the rest of the week to look forward to even more exciting activities. As for the counselors, I myself believe that the longer we are at camp, the stronger our bonds with the campers become. I have personally enjoyed to the fullest extent getting to know every camper I interact with, whether it be during hall time, community time, a meal, or an optional.

Having previously been a camper, I’m overjoyed to witness current campers experience the wonderful and endless opportunities VAMPY has to offer them, and to see that they are truly embracing the camp experience.
